New Regional Committee Standing Orders

We are pleased to announce the NEC has approved the region’s local variations to the 2015 Regional Committee Standing Orders.

The region’s new standing orders can be found at ucunorthern.org.uk/regional-committee/standing-orders/

The official date the region adopted the new standing orders is Friday 9th December 2016.

The consultation paper regarding the proposed local variations was written by Emma Alexander, Regional Administrator for the Northern Region.  The Regional Committee voted and approved the proposals on 8th October.  Emma Alexander then submitted the proposals to the NEC.

The main benefits to the region of adopting the 2015 Regional Committee standing orders with our local variations are:

  • Not losing our current branch elected delegate entitlement (section 4 of standing orders)
  • Allowing the current level of organisation by the Regional Administrator to continue. The region is currently exceptionally organised by the Regional Administrator and this level of organisation can now be allowed to continue (sections 5 and 8)
  • The region can have the officers it wants (section 7 of standing orders)
  • A simplified officer nomination/election process allowing officers to be nominated, seconded and elected during a meeting (section 8 of standing orders)

If you have any queries please contact Emma Alexander.
