TUC Bitesize Briefing : Managing substance misuse in the workplace : 29th February, Newcastle

Substance misuse across the North east continues to have major impact to physical / mental health and general wellbeing within society and the workplace. Substance misuse and addiction can have serious consequences to individuals, their families, friends, employers and work colleagues. More than ever national and local companies are imposing substance misuse testing on their own employees as well as their contractors.
This interactive session is designed to help reps better understand the need to take an appropriate and balanced approach to the management of substance misuse in the workplace and intervention for the employee. There are a variety of criminal and civil legislations which also impose statutory requirements as well as a fiduciary duty on all of us to be more aware of what is an appropriate action / reaction to take within the provision of the subject material outlined below:
- Signs and symptoms of substance misuse / awareness package
- Policy development, implementation and management
- Types of test equipment and mediums (hair, urine, saliva, breath)
- Windows of testing and application of each, supporting laboratory processes
Register your attendance by Friday 12th February 2016 to Melanie Lowden mlowden@tuc.org.uk
