UCU Branch Briefing : Equal Pay

Closing the gender pay gap is a clear priority for UCU. It features strongly in the national claims in both the FE and HE sectors and locally branches have stressed it in FE pay claims.

However, the national HE claims concludes there will inevitably be local work to do on this and in FE there is a newly signed agreement on gender pay which needs local implementation.

The briefing by national officials will:

• Outline the scale of the problem. UCU has up to date data on a branch by branch basis
• Examine the new national agreement in FE
• Provide clear guidance to branches in both sectors on taking this issue forward.

This briefing is training for UCU reps. As a workplace representative you are entitled to reasonable paid time off to attend UCU training. If you experience any difficulties obtaining time off please contact the Regional Office.
