UCU National Recruitment Week : November 2015

UCU is launching a major new recruitment campaign for 2015/16 including our first series of national recruitment weeks, the first of which commences on Monday 16th November 2015.
Build the union 2015/16
Recruiting new members is a priority for the whole union – branch officers, reps, members and staff – and we want to help you plan and support your activities for the coming year. All regional offices are drawing up detailed plans for recruitment and will shortly be in touch with you. We have a superb range of resources on our Build The Union blogsite here, including leaflets, posters, advice on how to invite colleagues to join and how best to organise activities in workplaces.
Recruitment week: 16th-20th November
We plan to focus activities on a series of recruitment weeks (3 during the academic year), kicking off with week commencing 16th November – to promote the union in every single college, university and prison education department. We’ll be providing materials, supporting events and giving the week a high profile in press and communications.
What happens now?
Please meet to discuss recruitment ideas with your branch colleagues as soon as possible.
It may be a stall, a visit by the branch officers to designated staff rooms, the production of a recruitment leaflet aimed at one particular group of staff – hpls, work based assessors, researchers etc – where there is most scope for recruitment.
Please then contact Emma Alexander at the Regional Office to let us know:
- what your branch is doing and
- what help you need
We hope that all branches will put on at least one event during the national recruitment week.
We will discuss this at the regional briefing on Thursday 8th October.
